With the launch of MediShorts, we set out to provide a dedicated space for publishing concise, high-quality research across medicine and biomedical sciences. Our inaugural issue featured a single article, marking the beginning of this initiative. As we move into 2025, we anticipate significant growth, with more articles under review and in development for Issue 2.
The role of MediShorts is to bridge the gap between early-career research and formal publication, ensuring that valuable work—including audits, clinical research, F2 projects, and dissertation-based studies—does not remain confined to internal reports. Traditional journals often favour full-length studies, leaving many excellent shorter pieces without a clear publication route. By offering a platform for short, sharp science (typically 2-4 pages), MediShorts enables early-career researchers to gain visibility while contributing meaningfully to the academic landscape.
More than just a publication platform, MediShorts is specifically designed to support early-career researchers. We provide writing and editorial assistance to help young researchers refine their work into publishable manuscripts. Our aim is to make academic publishing more accessible, ensuring that promising early-career researchers receive the guidance and support they need to successfully share their findings with the wider scientific community.
In this issue, we look forward to expanding our reach, publishing a broader range of studies covering medical research, audits, case studies, and small reviews. As we continue to grow, we welcome further submissions from students, foundation doctors, and researchers who wish to share their research with a wider audience. We look forward to Issue 2 showcasing a diverse selection of work and further establishing MediShorts as a valuable resource for early-career researchers.
