BioShorts

Smaller early-career research projects (including undergraduate and Master’s dissertations, early PhD work, etc.) can provide novel insight into underexplored areas but often do not progress to publication due to their limited scope and length. At BioShorts, we recognise the scientific value of such work and provide a dedicated platform for its dissemination. We primarily work with early-career researchers (typically with fewer than five publications), supporting the development of short-format manuscripts (2–6 pages) through professional editing and the coordination of peer review by subject specialists.

BioShorts has the infrastructure to develop and adapt a range of research outputs into finalised manuscripts, including the conversion of undergraduate and Master’s dissertations into publishable short-format articles, provided the work demonstrates novelty and scholarly relevance. Submissions may range from ‘raw’ dissertations or technical reports to already developed manuscripts . For further information, please feel free to contact us here.

MediShorts

Case reports or short medical-based projects can provide valuable insight, yet often fail to achieve publication due to their characteristic brevity. Under the BioShorts umbrella, MediShorts offers a platform whereby these short research projects can be shared.

Short medical projects may include clinical research, QIPs, clinical audits, service evaluations, service redesign, patient experience, education, or more.

Case reports should communicate information regarding symptoms, diagnosis, or treatment on unique circumstances and diseases.

If you’ve been involved with an interesting case study or short medical project, we’d love to hear from you, whether you require writing assistance or simply a platform for publication.

Annals of BioShorts

Annals of BioShorts is our dedicated conference proceedings journal, designed to capture and publish all research presented at BioShorts events. It provides a permanent, citable record of accepted abstracts, posters, and presentations, ensuring that conference contributions are formally recognised and accessible beyond the event itself.

The journal supports early-career researchers by offering a clear publication outcome for their conference work and helps create a transparent, structured archive of BioShorts conference activity.
