Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Agreement") are entered into by and between BioShorts Ltd, a Limited Company ("Company," "we," or "us"), and the individual or entity ("User," "you," or "your") who wishes to use the publication services provided by the Company.

1. Acceptance of Terms

1.1 By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use our services.

2. Service Description

2.1 The Company offers a publication service that assists researchers, scientists, and authors in submitting, reviewing, and publishing biology-related research articles, papers, and materials ("Publications"). The Company may provide services such as manuscript submission assistance, peer review coordination, editing, and publication support.

2.2 We may provide peer review services to ensure the quality and validity of submitted articles. However, we do not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of the peer review process.

2.3. Authors submitting articles for publication must comply with our submission guidelines, which can be found on our website.

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 You warrant that any material submitted to the Company for publication is your original work, and you have the legal right to submit it for publication.

3.2 You agree to provide accurate and complete information during the submission process and maintain the accuracy of this information.

3.3 You are solely responsible for the content of your Publications and any consequences that arise from their publication.

3.4. Users agree not to engage in any activity that may disrupt or compromise the integrity of our platform or services.

4. Payment and Fees

4.1 The Company may charge fees for its publication services. The fees and payment terms will be outlined in a separate pricing document or communicated to you directly.

4.2 Payments for services are non-refundable unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in your Publications. However, by submitting your Publications to the Company, you grant the Company a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display your Publications for the purpose of providing the publication services, for the full term of copyright and any renewals or extensions thereof.

5.2 The Company may not use your Publications for any purpose other than providing the publication services without your explicit consent.

5.3 Once the Article is published, it becomes part of the permanent academic record and may not be withdrawn by the Author. The Journal reserves the right to retract the Article in cases of significant errors, ethical breaches, or other issues as determined by the Journal's editorial board.

5.4 Authors may use their published articles for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes, including posting on personal websites, institutional repositories, and sharing with colleagues, provided proper attribution is given to the original publication in the Journal.

6. Privacy

6.1. The Company's use of personal information provided by you during the submission and publication process is governed by our Privacy Policy, which can be found here.

7. Termination

7.1 Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time, prior to publication, by providing written notice to the other party.

7.2 The Company may suspend or terminate your access to the services if you breach any terms of this Agreement.

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the content on our platform. Users use our services at their own risk.

8.2 The Company shall not be liable for any damages, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, arising out of or in connection with the use of our services.

9. Governing Law

9.1 These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the England and Wales.

10. Modifications

10.1 The Company reserves the right to modify or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be effective upon posting on our website.

11. Conferences and Events

11.1 Registration and Payment

By registering for a BioShorts conference or event, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Registration is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment. BioShorts Ltd reserves the right to refuse or cancel registrations at its discretion.

11.2 Changes to the Programme

BioShorts Ltd reserves the right to make reasonable changes to the event programme at any time, including but not limited to changes in speakers, schedule, format, or venue where necessary. Such changes shall not constitute grounds for a refund.

11.3 Cancellation by the Organiser

BioShorts Ltd reserves the right to cancel or postpone an event where necessary, including but not limited to circumstances where minimum attendance levels are not met, the event is not commercially or operationally viable, or due to factors beyond reasonable control.

BioShorts Ltd shall determine, at its sole discretion, whether the event is viable to proceed.

In the event of cancellation:

  • All registered attendees will receive a full refund of the registration fee

  • BioShorts Ltd shall not be liable for any additional costs incurred, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, subsistence, or other expenses

11.4 Postponement or Rescheduling

If an event is postponed or rescheduled:

  • Registrations will be transferred to the new date

  • If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, you may request a full refund of your registration fee

BioShorts Ltd shall not be liable for any associated travel or accommodation costs.

11.5 Attendee Cancellation

If you are unable to attend:

  • Cancellations made more than 30 days before the event may be eligible for a refund, subject to an administrative fee

  • Cancellations made within 30 days of the event are non-refundable

Substitutions (transfer of registration to another attendee) may be permitted upon request.

11.6 Travel and Accommodation

Attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation.

BioShorts Ltd shall not be liable for any losses or expenses incurred in relation to travel, accommodation, or other personal arrangements in the event of cancellation, postponement, or changes to the event.

Attendees are strongly advised to obtain appropriate travel insurance.

11.7 Force Majeure

BioShorts Ltd shall not be held liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations where such delay or failure results from events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, venue issues, or travel disruptions.

11.8 Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BioShorts Ltd’s liability in connection with any event shall be limited to the amount paid for registration.

BioShorts Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including but not limited to loss of opportunity, business, or anticipated savings.

11.9 Conduct

BioShorts Ltd reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any attendee whose behaviour is deemed inappropriate, disruptive, or unsafe, without refund.

11.10 Filming and Photography

By attending a BioShorts event, you consent to photography and recording which may be used for promotional and marketing purposes, unless you inform us otherwise in writing prior to the event.
